Fat Transfer to The Face
Fat transfer to the face is one of the most powerful procedures in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The goal is to restore what age has taken away by replacing the fat in the face that has been lost over time. As the face ages, different fat pads within the face begin to fall, creating a hollowed appearance around the eye, deep creases in the face and tear trough, and sagging of the mid and lower face.
The fat is harvested using liposuction techniques most often from the abdomen, inner or outer thighs. The fat is then processed in a sterile fashion and transferred to various areas of the face which improves facial contour as well as skin quality. One of the distinct advantages of fat transfer is that it can be processed into various particle sizes (macrofat, microfat, nanofat) to treat different areas of the face more appropriately. This procedure can either be done in the office under oral sedation or in an operating room suite. It is often done in combination with other rejuvenation procedures of the eyes and face to optimize the outcome.
St. Louis Facial Plastic Surgery offers a wide variety of surgical procedures and techniques, as well as non-surgical procedures, to rejuvenate the face and neck.
