As the holiday season comes roaring right in, most of us have a lot to look forward to. Much of what lies ahead is probably highly anticipated with great joy. However, what often happens is, about mid-way through the bustle of holiday shopping and celebrating with loved ones, we start to feel fatigued. Feeling it is one thing, looking it is another. Here at St. Louis Facial Plastic Surgery, we’ve got a handful of nonsurgical treatments that may provide the perfect pre-holiday pick-me-up. Consider stopping by for treatment during a busy day of holiday shopping or scheduling treatment alongside your spouse or your Bestie for a treat before the main holiday event.
Beauty is not something to create, it’s something to bring out in ourselves. Before the holiday rush, we suggest minimally-invasive or non-invasive treatments that achieve big impact with little need for downtime (if any at all). Common options include:
Chemical Peels and Dermabrasion
It may come as a surprise just how much dead and damaged cells can affect the skin. For tissue to properly regenerate, it needs a little help. Cells just don’t fall away from the epidermis as quickly as they could. Also, the effects of sun exposure are absorbed in the dermis, not the epidermis. This means that problems like sunspots are brought up over time and can live on the epidermis longer than necessary. To expedite the release of dead and damaged cells, we perform chemical peels and dermabrasion.
Both of these services do the same thing, but they do it differently. With a chemical peel, a proprietary solution is applied to the skin for a few minutes to absorb at a selected depth. Dermabrasion is a manual technique in which a small handpiece with an abrasive tip is passed over the skin. Each technique can be adjusted to absorb at a particular level. Knowing that the holidays are a time when most people don’t want to sit at home waiting for skin to flake off, we suggest light peels as the best pre-holiday service.
In recent years, the love-affair adults have with injectables has only intensified. Products like Botox and dermal fillers can be used independently to address specific concerns. Botox cannot fill the role of dermal fillers in the world of beauty, nor can dermal fillers address the same concerns that Botox can. Depending on the extent of rejuvenation a person needs, we may perform both dermal fillers and Botox in a quick visit. Luckily, neither involves downtime, just amazing results.
