Millions of new patients get dermal fillers each year. Usually, they feel at least a little intimidated. This is understandable. Common or not, if you’re new to dermal fillers it helps to know what to expect. We’ll discuss that here.
Your First Dermal Filler Appointment
When you schedule dermal filler treatment with an experienced, qualified provider, you can expect your experience to begin with a one-on-one consultation. We get to know our patients and their desired outcome because, without that, we have no roadmap to guide our treatment. After we’ve discussed concerns, goals, and expectations we can discuss treatment recommendations and cost. Then we can move right on to the fun part: treatment!
Dermal filler treatment is faster than a lot of people anticipate. Once we’ve got our treatment plan, it may take only 10 to 15 minutes to administer the necessary series of injections. The process is made comfortable through the use of a tiny needle and the inclusion of a mild anesthetic in most dermal fillers. Because nerve endings are desensitized starting with the first injection, patients may feel nothing more than a mild pinch of the skin during their treatment.
After getting dermal fillers, patients are free to resume nearly every activity. We may suggest postponing strenuous exercise, sun exposure, and other activities that increase heat and heart rate for a few hours. Side effects may occur but are usually mild and temporary. They include subtle redness and swelling where injections have been administered.
You may be new to dermal fillers but we are not. We’re here to walk you through the process and achieve the results you deserve. To schedule your appointment, call 314.475.3700.
